It Keeps You Runnin'

If anyone who reads this blog can identify the artist of the songs or the stars of the movies whose titles these entries borrow, please comment to let me know that my taste isn't completely obscure. It's always something I've seen or listened to, and it usually reflects (just the phrase in general, or the theme of the song, or perhaps some specific lyrics included in the song) the content of the post.

I'm still up, and I've done literally no work. All I want to do is write. I've been playing around with "Line Rider" too. It's a pretty sweet toy. You should try it.

I wonder how I'm going to manage getting back to an ordinary schedule after tonight. I'm not really tired, although I'm starting to yawn. I think I'll start work soon and then take a nap. It'll be a real nap this time, though. I really want to get Ender's Game. Actually, I think I'll email Scott and see if he owns a copy of it, other than the audio book (which might not be a bad idea, if he can give it to me in a regular format). I'd rather borrow it from a human than a library, in case I put it down for a week or something. I think I'll just spend a weekend reading it, though. That's usually how it goes. I'll go into town Wednesday instead of going to Physics. Actually, maybe I'll go into town today after Engineering and sign up for a card. I'll definitely make it back before the Engineering lab, which is quickly becoming a pain in the ass (it's almost dark by the time I get there; by the time I leave, it's pitch black outside).

I just checked the library's website, and they have at least four copies of it. I just need to find out what the sequels are called. Maybe Orson Scott Card has a website I can check.

Thank the open source community for Wikipedia. Ender's Game was originally a short story, expanded into a novel for the express purpose of writing the sequel, "Speaker for the Dead", which is followed by "Xenocide" and "Children of the Mind". Apparently there's a whole other series, the Shadow Series, which is a vertical extension of the Ender's Game series. If his writing even comes close to Asimov quality, I'm going to read every book in this series. After that, I'm going to ask everyone I know for books to read, because I'm tired of not reading. I love reading. I wish I had a reason for it. I just read for enjoyment. I love fiction; it's too bad the Harry Potter books sucked so bad. I still don't understand what people see in them. The stories are alright, but there's nothing spectacular about them, and the author is not a good writer at all. Perhaps they're just too fantastical for me. The movies were decent, in the sense that they were worth just about the time spent watching them, but not worth any money. Ong-Bak: the Thai Warrior, on the other hand, is worth about two weeks and twenty dollars (I'd rather watch Ong-Bak than be awake for two weeks, and I'd be glad to spend $20 to own it). It's a shame movies like that aren't more common.

I think I'll start the revision now. I wonder if it's wise to give the link to this blog out to people. How much of myself am I willing to expose? I guess everything, almost. I need to keep something secret, and not just to make sure that I can keep friendships by maintaining that little bit of mystery. Some things are just for me. If I start writing about interesting things, then maybe I'll give my English professor the address. If I do, then I hope she doesn't read all the other entries that mention her. I'll have to wait at least a week, then, before disclosure. I'm off to work now.

You are the weakest link. Goodbye.
